Summer means downtime and nothing's worse than a bored kiddo. Except maybe a bored parent! We decided to share our favorite fun for the whole family- local and national spots. Let’s get started planning your next staycation! If you are in Richmond, here are four fun things to do with your family.

Carytown’s very own Cartwheels and Coffee offers a “Playland designed with parents in mind.” If you have younger children this place is perfect, offering wifi so that you can get some “work” done or just take a breather and scroll through your timeline on facebook. Your little one will love the play place while you are busy loving the coffee.

Is your little one bouncing off the walls with energy? We’ve got just the place for them to let it all out Jumpology is a local trampoline arena where you can bounce to your heart’s desire. This is not only fun for you and your family but you can also have a trampoline party. Not only will your child have a excitement filled afternoon but you’ll also have an excuse to skip the gym!

For a tasty treat head on over to Sugar Shack. Sugar Shack is Richmond’s latest cure for any sweet tooth addiction. These fresh handmade donuts are the best thing since sliced bread.  Try the maple bacon donut topped with real bacon and the Samoa donut because there is nothing better than a Girl Scout cookie, except maybe a Girl Scout cookie donut!

Looking for a cold treat on a hot day? Head over to King of Pops stand and try one of the delicious popsicles with flavors like Banana Puddin, Chocolate Sea salt, fresh peach, lemon basil and much much more. Make sure to bring wet-naps because your sticky treat will be well worth the mess. Check out their Facebook page to see where the cart is daily!

For those who are not in the area here are some nationally recognized places that are fun for everyone:

Dragging kids to get their haircut is a thing of the past. No more kicking and screaming with Pigtails and Crewcuts. This is a salon that they’ll be begging to come back too. Not only do they give amazing haircuts they also have rooms available for parties. Let their imagination run wild while playing dress up, getting their hair, make-up, and nails done. Select locations offer outside parties, as well.

Bon Appetit! Young Chef’s Academy is a real cooking school for ages 3 and up. Cooking classes aren’t just for adults anymore with a weekly cooking class designed for your aspiring chef. Pick from your favorite food, pasta, pizza, cookies to make and enjoy! Cooking is fun for all ages and hey maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two!  Check out their website for a location nearest you.
